Image of Memorial Statue at The Whitney Plantation
About the art: My mother and I like to travel. If it’s within the US and drivable, we will make it happen. We’re on our own time and it allows us to stop along the way and take in different landmarks and so forth. On this trip, we visited New Orleans and decided on a day trip to Wallace, La. where we visited the Whitney Plantation. It is the only plantation in Louisiana dedicated to the lives of slaves. Touring the property, you will encounter several memorials and within one of them is this statue of an angel holding a slave baby.
